The Platte County Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) provides a response mechanism for critical incidents requiring some form of negotiation. The primary goal of CNT is the peaceful resolution of critical incidents through negotiations.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office will normally use CNT services when there is an incident that involves:

• A barricaded subject(s),
• A hostage(s) being held by another person against their will,
• A suicidal person(s).

CNT normally operates in conjunction with the Platte County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT).
