Crimes Against Persons & Property The Platte County Sheriff's Office Investigative Division is comprised of full-time detectives, specializing in particular areas of law enforcement, who provide investigative support to the Sheriff's Office and other area law enforcement agencies. Areas of expertise include forensics, violent crime, interview and interrogation, sex crimes, crimes against children, and crimes against persons and/or property. Any persons wishing to provide information regarding a criminal offense and/or information regarding an ongoing criminal investigation may contact the Investigations Unit at the above listed numbers or call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS to leave an anonymous tip.
Platte County Drug Task Force The Platte County Drug Task Force is comprised of full-time detectives specializing in the investigation and prosecution of street-level narcotics traffickers in the Platte County area. In addition, the task force provides investigative assistance in ongoing narcotics investigations to municipalities in and around the Platte County area. The Platte County Drug Task Force is funded through a Narcotics Control Assistance Program (N.C.A.P.) grant administered by the Missouri Office of Public Safety.
The KCI Airport Narcotics Task Force The Kansas City International Airport Narcotics Task Force is comprised of full-time Sheriff's Office detectives along with D.E.A. and Kansas City Missouri Police Office personnel. The Task Force in charged with the interdiction and arrest of persons involved in smuggling of illegal narcotics through the Kansas City International Airport. A fully funded D.E.A. task force, the Kansas City International Airport Narcotics Task Force has proven to be one of the most successful narcotic interdiction units in the nation, largely due to interagency and community involvement. High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Enforcement Group The HIDTA enforcement group is tasked with conducting methamphetamine drug investigations. The HIDTA group is a multi- agency task force focused on the identification, apprehension and prosecution of meth related violators. High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Intelligence Group The HIDTA Intelligence Group is a multi-agency task force tasked with the receiving, correlating and disseminating information to law enforcement agencies to aid them in the investigation of drug violators.
Platte County Sheriff's Office The Platte County Sheriff's Office's Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) is tasked with the responsibility of serving high-risk arrest and search warrants. Comprised of 14 deputies from various units within the Sheriff's Office, the SWAT team members were selected after an extensive interview process, combined with a physical agility program and firearms qualification. SWAT has received extensive training in tactical operations with emphasis on civilian and officer safety. Specialized areas of training have included a variety of weapon systems, light and sound distraction devices, trauma medicine, methods of building entry or "breaching", and surveillance. The Platte County Sheriff's Office's Special Weapons and Tactics Team was formed to ensure the community's safety when high-risk operations become necessary. |
