The Platte County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) is tasked with the responsibility of serving high-risk arrest and search warrants. Comprised of deputies from various units within the Sheriff’s Office, the SWAT team members were selected after an extensive interview process, combined with a physical agility program and firearms qualification. SWAT has received extensive training in tactical operations with emphasis on civilian and officer safety. Specialized areas of training have included a variety of weapon systems, light and sound distraction devices, trauma medicine, methods of building entry or “breaching”, and surveillance.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team was formed to ensure the community’s safety when high-risk operations become necessary.
